At first glance, CBD may seem like an odd ingredient to include in your diet and skin care routine. The main reason why many people raise their eyebrows when they hear about products containing CBD is that the substance is extracted from the same plant used in the production of cannabis. But is CBD a drug? Does trying it get you high? What are the benefits and which Hollywood celebrities cannot live without this miracle product? These are some of the questions I tackle in this article while sharing my own experiences and opinions after trying CBD for a week.
First of all, I want to clarify the differences between Cannabis and Cannabis. To simplify it, we can talk about two completely different chemical compounds - CBD which is found in Hemp and THC which is found in Marijuana. Below I list some of their different characteristics to give you a better idea of these two topics and what sets them apart.
THC vs CBD

THC | CBD |
Psychoactive- Affects brain function and causes changes in behavior, personal mood, perception or consciousness. | Not Psychoactive- Means that CBD does not affect personal mood, perception or consciousness. It also does not cause behavioral changes. |
Relaxation- Some find it soothing to the mind. Others instead experience more anxiety and in some cases even paranoia. | Anti-convulsant- Muscle relaxant that counteracts symptoms of epilepsy and other types of seizures. |
Appetite enhancer- THC can cause episodes of binge eating. | Neuroprotective properties- Reduces oxidative stress and thus contributes to slower aging. |
Paranoia- As mentioned above, some people experience paranoia when under the influence of THC. | Antioxidant- According to some studies, is more potent than vitamin C and vitamin E. |
Euphoria- Extreme joy is described by those who have tested or regularly consume substances containing THC. | Anti-inflammatory- Reduces inflammation in the body and acts as a pain reliever. |
THE EFFECTS OF CBD
Now we dive deep into the positive effects CBD can have on body, bud and beauty. Remember that research on CBD is still very new and thus limited. That being said, it is interesting to say the least to read about the incredible benefits that can possibly come from incorporating CBD into one's diet and beauty routine.

CBD FOR YOUR MIND
Since time immemorial, Cannabis has been associated with good psychological and emotional effects. Now new research (click!) suggests that CBD, one of the main active components of the cannabis plant may actually be the cause of this. The non-psychoactive cannabis product can help manage everything from everyday anxiety and insomnia, to more severe conditions such as depression and PTSD. All this without the negative effects of Marijuana.
CBD FOR BEAUTY
Over the past year, CBD has started popping up in the ingredient lists of a variety of skin care and beauty products. While research into the effectiveness of CBD in these products is in its infancy, the potential is definitely there, largely due to the ingredient's powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In combination with other moisturizing and active ingredients, CBD can actually have real beauty benefits. As a potent antioxidant, CBD may play a role in regulating collagen production and protecting against harmful environmental factors such as the sun. As an anti-inflammatory substance, CBD may be able to soothe the skin of those who suffer from rosacea, eczema or are particularly acne-prone.
CBD FOR YOUR BODY
It is no coincidence that professional athletes were among the first to start using CBD preparations. Its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, plus its herbal origin, make it a more natural alternative to painkillers and prescription pills. Whether you're suffering from chronic pain, acute muscle injury, or just sore feet after a night out in high heels, CBD may be able to help ease everyday aches and pains.
MIN ÅSIKT

A week ago I was given the opportunity to test a mouth spray from Herbmed containing CBD. The cannaboid content in the substance is 6.67%, which means that one dosage contains 12mg of CBD. The dose can be increased if needed but should not exceed 200mg/day if needed. In addition to CBD, the spray also contains MCT oil, which has a variety of other documented and positive health effects. The particular one I got to test tastes of peppermint and feels fresh without an aftertaste. Since I started, I have experienced more inner calm, similar to the effect I get from Ashwagandha, improved sleep and less exercise pain. However, it is worth mentioning that a week of regular use is not long enough to notice all the effects that CBD can have on health, both mentally and physically.
IF YOU ARE CURIOUS TO TRY THE ORAL SPRAY THAT I HAVE AT HOME OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT CONTAINING CBD, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING OUT HERBMED (CLICK!).
